Does Your Relationship Make the Grade? by: Darlene BarriereBased on her book, Does Your Relationship Make the Grade? "Strategies to improve your dating relationships and avoid date rape", Darlene Barriere, the relationship lady, presents a powerful talk that will have students engaged and leave them empowered.

Drawing from her personal experiences as a survivor of sexual assault, Darlene will inspire students to make healthy, mutually respectful relationship choices.

Students will learn to communicate more effectively in their relationships and avoid misunderstanding
s that can ultimately lead to allegations of sexual assault. Students are provided with key strategies on how to get out when they are in unhealthy relationships. And most importantly, students who have been victimized by dating violence will come to understand that the shame and guilt they experience is not theirs to bear. Darlene will motivate them to take back their lives!

Points examined:

  1. Communication differences between males and females
  2. Fundamentals of healthy relationships
  3. Dynamics behind unhealthy relationships
  4. The cycle of violence
  5. What constitutes "consent"
  6. Issues surrounding date rape
